Meet Sweet Caroline

Sweet Caroline came for a visit this morning....

She is 2 1/2 weeks young & is the most alert baby

I have ever photographed :)

Typically, I photograph babies within the first 7-10 days

of life & I capture them sleeping. However, Caroline's

Mama & Dad knew she was anything but typical.....

She arrived one week early, weighing over 9lbs & had

an agenda of her own for today :) She kept her Mama

& Dad up all night and still didn't miss a beat during her

session :) We decided to compromise with her....she

did a fabulous job & went down in history as the first

baby to ever be photographed by me awake,

from start to finish!

Jillian & Matt, she is the sweetest little girl & I am

so honored to have captured these precious moments

in your lives. Donna, it was great to meet you also

and to see you so excited as we took these :)

7 Days new!

Meet sweet little Tatum. She was 7 days new today when

she came to be photographed. I saw her on day 2 and it is

amazing how much she has changed already. Her Mama

is my cousin, so I was really excited to take these for her :)

She was a great sleeper for me & was full of smiles.

So happy for her Mama & Dad, whose lives will never

be the same, but will be better :)

Being a photographer myself, it is not often that I am on the

other side of the lens...but I know the importance of family photos

and want to capture us each year through our journey together.

This year, we had them taken by Joann Kaser of Josephiney Photography.

Her style reminded me a lot of mine and I was very excited to work

with her and since we had been trying to meet for coffee since the

summer, this was a great way for us to meet :)

Joann, thanks sooooo much for the wonderful pics you took

of the people I love the most. You are very talented and sweet

and I am looking forward to some girl talk! :)

I could not resist sharing these sneak peeks of this

ten day old little guy. Brady's Mama & Grandma were so

cute when I was photographing him....they were giggling

& "aww-ing." It was the sweetest thing. :)

He was by far the easiest newborn I have ever

photographed! He didn't fuss when Mama undressed

him, which is amazing in itself :) All of you NB photogs

know that taking their clothes off, generally doesn't

make them happy. Jen, I am so happy for you and Brandon,

Brady is the perfect *start* to your family...wink-wink.

It's hard to believe that a year has passed

Wow....My son told me today how long it

This is honestly the busiest time of the

year for me and it gets harder and harder

Wow, I cannot believe my blog has sat *dormant*

for over a month! I have been very busy taking pics & enjoying

my summer with my family! I have been posting much of my

summer to my FB page and really need to do some

catching up on here too!

Today we went to the zoo...it was very overcast

& there was a nice cool breeze. We spent 3 hours there &

it was the most we've ever enjoyed it!

I must admit, it did make me a little sad to see those

My hubby had to work twelve hours today,

so Father's Day wasn't quite the same without him :(

We decided to surprise him with some pics. I asked

the kids to write him a message and then when

he came home, we snapped a quick one with him

too.....he's still lookin' good after workin' twelve

hours too :)

Anywhoo.... I fell in love with this man 19 yrs

ago and after each of our children were born,

I fell in love with him all over again... I LOVE

seeing him be a father to our children. They

adore him, I adore him...the dogs even like him :)

We are very blessed.

Little Miss Zarrah came by for a visit! She was

a MONTH old when we had our session...but she did

surprise everyone by coming a month earlier than scheduled.

Mom & Dad read my "preparation instructions" and did everything

to a *T,* which is how we ended up with this.....

And then she did this...... ugh.....such a sweetie...

I LOVE those cheeks with this purple bonnet!

I'm imagining that this is how she was curled up

in her Mama's belly...minus the headband :)

Brein & Tom, thanks so much for letting me take part in this

special moment in your lives. Watching you coo over Zarrah

was the cutest thing to see. She is just precious :)

Busy!

I can't believe the third week of June is here.... Time has flown already and I

have so much more I want to do with my kids, my family, my business..my health.

There has been a lot going on so far for us. Our kids are changing schools.... from

one that we adore, to one that we pray will be a great opportunity for them.

The school they will be attending is one that I did in during my elementary years.

The school is being revamped, as it's last updates may have been when I was there...

a few years ago. The projects are completely volunteer-based, so we have done a

some of that so far and are looking forward to seeing what our community can do!

We've also been on the home stretch of baseball and dance recital's....We had 7 games

this week...two concession duties, three Meals on Wheels deliveries and I kept my

God-daughters here with me for the week. Yeah, it's been a little busy :)

Today, in my free-time, I spent my morning with Little Miss Emily....

A true slice of heaven. One of the most precious aspects of my *job*

are not only holding the babies...but seeing Mom & Dad get so excited

during the session.... Laura & Brent were so sweet to watch. Emily is

there second little girl & they couldn't be happier.

Adison + Acoustic

Our son, Adison, had a guitar recital last weekend.

He started taking lessons a year ago and I am amazed

at his age(just turned 8) that he can read the music

and play on both electric and acoustic. So very proud

of him! Btw, his hair is often a subject of conversation

with adults.....they like to tell him that he needs it cut,

which makes him want to grow it all that much longer....

a little rebellious, like his mother :) I like him to keep it

*tamed,* but the length doesn't bother me...besides Jesus

had long hair!! :)

We've had a few visitors over the past week...

My daughter, Kendall(5), said, "Mommy!!

He is so cute! He has a mohawk like Caiden's,

only it's made out of cranberries!" Totally

made my day! Also made it hard to get this shot

with my macro lens... I was laughing so hard I

could barely stand still :)

I bought a macro lens a few months ago and have

been dying to get out and USE it! I finally made

some time in the wee hours of the morning....

I never realized how much detail was in the middle

of a gerber daisy! Looks like a party in there!

Not sure why, but this pic makes me think of reproduction...

I know, very strange, I can't explain it. :) Thought it

was neat that there is a spider web across it though.

Maybe that's it....the web, waiting to "catch" something?

Hahaha, it's late, I'm delirious.....I'm sure I spelled that wrong too :)

My son, Adison, finds everything with hearts....and he

always says, "I heart you Mom." Now, I see them

everywhere too and I always think of him...such a sweetie.

Miss Michigan Galaxy - Zarah Mumaw!!

Zarah is the current Miss Michigan Galaxy

& is absolutely stunning!!! Despite her

beauty, her sweet disposition is her

most striking quality.

I spent part of my Mother's Day afternoon

with her & her Mama.....what a special

bonding time for them. Mom got teary-eyed

almost every time I showed her what I had

captured..... such a sweet relationship they

share with one another.

I always have so much fun when Taylor & I

go out exploring to take pics. I have taken hers quite a

few times over the years and her recent change

from blonde to brunette had to be documented! Beautiful!!

Today, was very windy....and freezing....Taylor was brave in her

shorty shorts and tank top :) We ended up at a friends

house and found some fabulous & sometimes

scary spots, but it was worth it!!!

6 days new....

Jeri Hoag and I recently joined creative minds

for this twin session. We were in complete

heaven! Not only were the babies precious,

but they were a dream to photograph...

They were just 6 days old and were 5lbs-er's..

They posed and SLEPT! Mom & Dad were a

huge reason that this happened. They kept

them awake, fed them as we were setting up

and booked their session within the first 10 days...

Things have been hectic at my house lately....

Two of my kids had the flu AGAIN....luckily,

Adison only had it for one day....Kendall

is on day three today.... On top of it,

Caiden and Kendall had birthday's, my Dad

is in the hospital and I had braces

put on Tuesday...... it's been a tad chaotic.

I have had a few sessions in between all

of this and will be posting to get caught

up as much as I can!

First up is little Ben.....such a doll...

His first year of life has just passed by...

What an amazing tranformation the

first year is...Too bad it goes by so quickly....

His Mom made this adorable cake.....

He really liked it! :)

He liked it so much that we gave him a bath

in my kitchen sink afterwards, hahaha!

Newborn Models Needed!

I took a newborn workshop with Rachel Vanoven

a week or so ago, so that I could learn my all-time

favorite pose.......

OMGoodness.......I know you can't help it either!

Rachel did the posing for us, so she deserves the

credit.....but now I know how to do it too! :)

We had three beautiful baby models to work with....

the one above is Lydia.....the next one is Asher and he

is dreaming happy thoughts right now.....adorable!!!

I cannot believe it has been over TWO months

since I have posted! I had a terrible virus attack

my PC and ended up needing to purchase a

new system in the end. It's been a long, painful

month during this process! I was not

financially prepared for that and my anxiety

was through the roof at times.

Anyway, I wanted to share some pics of

my new little nephew, Finn. He is so adorable!

Meet Miss Chelsea: EHS class of 2011

Chelsea and I scouted out some new spots for her pics

last week and it was so much fun. She is a bubbly, fun

& beautiful young lady and hopes to be a pediatric nurse.

Our first session was rained out, but I believe God had

a plan for us.....and this day was simply perfect!

Chelsea, I loved hanging out with you and you did

such a fabulous job!!!

I only had to drive about 2 blocks to get to

this session! I absolutely LOVE these girls.

I have known their Mama for a long time

and her Mom/Siblings and it was so neat

to see a little of each of them in Kelly & Bailey.

They had me cracking UP! And the

way they treated each other was beautiful.

I had Mom and Dad wait inside while I took

them around Grandma's property. Primarily

so that I could capture *them,* as is. Not simply

sitting with hands folded in their laps screaming

*chee-ee-ee-se!!!!* :) When they are alone with

me, they tend to act a little wilder than when Mom

& Dad are instructing.....and I LOVE it! hahaha!

In addition, Mom & Dad get to be surprised! The

girls were so excited when we were finished, it is

such an awesome feeling to know that they had FUN!

Paula & Tim, THANK you for letting me spend time

with your girls, I truly LOVE them and crack up

every time I think about our session :) xoxoxoxo!

Meet Denzel: NHS class of 2011

Denzel and I had a chilly day to take pics....

And I took him to some odd places to take them,

hahahaa! I told him that this first one would look

completely different than the actual background

we were using.....and I told him that if she shared

my locations, I would find him. hahaha!

On a serious note, Denzel is hoping to become

an anesthesiologist after graduation. I'm telling

you, these kids have it together these days. Most

of them know what they want to be when they grow

up.....I just figured it out in 2007. :)

Denzel, thanks so much for spending some time

with me and my lens. I had a great time with

you and Lynette and can't wait to hear about

all of your accomplishments!!

Little Caio was a fiesty one! Poor little guy had tummy

problems and just could not get comfortable....well, unless

I held him. I tried to explain several times, that I could

not take his pics if I was holding him :) It turned out to be

the longest newborn session ever! hahahaa! Mom called me the baby

whisperer. She & I were both needing naps afterwards, but I told

her if we waited long enough, he would get tired......eventually! :)

Busy, busy & busier!

I have been swamped these past few months! Starbuck's

and Monster Mean Beans have become my best friends,

but I could not be happier to be doing what I LOVE.

Shelby & I met up two months ago for her first session

at the beach. This time we had her session on a day

with 60 mile an hour winds! I told her that if we were

patient, the wind would die down long enough to get

our shots in between :) This first one, I LOVE, LOVE!

I could picture how I wanted to edit it when I was

looking through my lens and knew it would be my fav.

Shelby, I had so much fun taking your pics all over the US! :)

hahahaha, it felt like it, didn't it? Seriously, you are such a

sweetheart and I feel so blessed that you chose me for your pics!

My friend, Reegan, contacted me about taking

some pics of she and her family about a month ago.

Then, before her session, she mentioned that they

would like to include their dogs and that *her* dog,

Piper, was getting pretty old and not doing so well.

A few days before the session, Piper took a turn for

the worse. They knew it wouldn't be long. The kids

told Mom that they needed to get family pics with

Piper.....and everyone prayed she would make it.

The day of the session, it started pouring rain.

We chatted and decided that the pics were critical

with Piper's condition and decided to do them at

the ampitheater in Niles. Suddenly, before the

session, the sun came out...and it was beautiful.

God was certainly hearing our prayers and we

were able to take the family pics with such an

important member of the family.

Lord, thank you for hearing our prayers & please

take care of our faithful friend, Piper. We will miss her dearly.

Usually, I will try to direct the playfulness

during a session to get my subjects to

look more natural and to make the

session FUN!! However, with this

particular family, there was no directing,

they were just naturally goofing around

and it made for some really cute pics!!

Our first session was rescheduled and Mama

and I were a little worried because she was

two weeks old and starting to stretch and stay

awake for longer periods of time....but she

did just as I asked.....I had so much fun &

we got so many shots....just look at

this precious little girl.....

Anniston's Grandma made this afghan and believe

it or not, she calls it her *junk* afghan! I fell in

love with it and it was so comfy......

Anniston's Mama brought her Great-Grandmother's

beautiful broach(sp?)...... Such an awesome detail!

Earlier this summer, I had the pleasure of meeting

Miss Anna and her cousins, their Mama's and

their Grammie. A few weeks later, I found out

that my youngest, Kendall's first teacher was

going to be Grammie!!! After seeing her

interact with her grand-babies, I knew she

would be perfect for my Kendall & she is!

Well, Miss Anna had a birthday since I saw

her last, so they traveled back to have some

pics taken(3 1/2hr drive!).....Ok, well, they

did get to go to an ND game and visit family

while they were here too, but I felt special anyway :)

This time, Anna brought some new friends along....

She was a little camera shy at first, so we played

peek-a-boo....Isn't she such a doll-baby??

Brittanie is a Senior rep for me and this was

session 2...... I have to say that there are soo

many gorgeous images from this session, it

was very hard for me to choose which to post!

I often get asked about the locations that I use....

To be honest, I usually do not decide until the client

arrives.....you see, I am a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants

kinda girl. I like to see what outfits they bring & then

I can visualize the image I want to create.

I am also very observant and will pull-over in

mid-conversation if something strikes me.....maybe

it's ADHD, maybe not. :) Brittanie & I had quite an

adventure getting to some of these spots! We had

so much fun again though!

The bottom line is......I LOVE when my clients

let my vision direct the session....because we end up

with images like these......

I told her this was ridiculous......ridiculously beautiful!

Whenever I show my clients how to pose, I literally get into

the position I want them in....often times why I like to wear

*knit* pants when I am shooting. (I swear I should be skinnier,

it's like aerobics!) Anyway, I always tell them to look way

cuter than I do in my *knits,* Brittanie listens.....

It was windier than you know what that day,

but we took advantage.....

This was our first shot and Brittanie's hair

was standing on END! The wind was so

strong, we had to take a break in my

friend, Don's, office and peek out just at

the right time!!!

Wind is calmer now......whew!!

Brittanie thought I was NUTS when I had her

balance herself on this branch.....little did she

realize there were crocodiles underneath!!!

Little Noah was actually about 3 1/2 weeks old....

I strongly suggest that photographs be taken 7-10

Tori is a beautiful young lady with

very HOT here these past few days

I'm back and busier than ever!

We just returned from a vacation in Georgia.

We went and visited our friends who live

right outside of Atlanta and had so much

fun! We have four kids, they have four kids,

we took one of our dogs and they have two..

we all stayed in one house together.....and

we survived! AND it was FUN!!! :)

Anywhoo, I have been busy since I came

back and have a crazy schedule for the

rest of summer! I have been photographing

local celebrities for a charity and cannot wait to

share the pics with you later when the site is live.

For now, I want to share with you the beautiful

Miss Hannah. She is the current Jr. Miss Apple Festival.

She is such a poised and sweet young lady. We took these

photos on the hottest day EVER! We were sweating bullets!

I don't know how Hannah still looks so beautiful! Mom & I, well,

thank goodness I was holding the camera! LOL! Along with

her title, she has also started a program to help young

children learn to read! How incredible is that?

Grandma Cheryl was so excited to get her grandaughters

together for a photo session. Both girls are 6mo. and both

have names that start with the letter "L." :)

Today is my niece, Mariah's, FINAL day of

high school!!! Thank goodness too....she has

had senior-itis for a LONG time & riding her

butt every morning to get out the door on time

has been less than pleasant! Hehehe!

Anyway, kidding aside, I am soooo proud

of this young lady! She has been through

some difficult times in her life & instead

of dwelling on them, she has focused on the

positive, plunged forward toward her goals

and is such a respectable young lady. She has

such a bright future ahead of her and I hope she

always remembers how much Aunt Lori loves her!

Little "P" has grown so much since I seen him

last! Sitting up is such a milestone & he is

rolling over too!

We decided to take him outside and it

was his first time in the grass....he was

so excited and would not stop staring at it,

it was hilarious! We got the bubbles out

to distract him from the grass and then

things got really serious......

Then we had Mama pick him up for a snuggle...

I have to say, it is the sweetest thing to watch..

His Mama sings to him and he gets the biggest

SMILE on his face.....such a beautiful connection!

The rain has been forcing me to reschedule

quite a few sessions lately. Luckily, the

weather didn't affect my session with

little "N." It's been so fun to wacth him

grow & develop his adorable personality.

He cooperated through a variety of shots...

this one was one of my fav's......

For this, we used a special blanket Mom & Dad

received when they were married! Thankfully,

"N" didn't "break it in" when we took his diaper off!

We used Grandpa's tie here.....
